This blog is rather outdated but still an interesting topic. To think that a bunch of 20 something year olds in provocative poses is even remotely considered pedophilia is pretty freaking ridiculous. There have been plenty instances of female actresses playing teenage girls who have had similar photo shoots. Sarah Michelle Gellar who played Buffy the Vampire Slayer from 1997-2003, has a rather stimulating cover shot of Maxim Magazine in the late 90’s. I don’t recall the public making a complete uproar about that. A point brought up is that Cory Montieth was pictured doing normal things, fully dressed. Well, it is a magazine marketed towards men, straight men. Why would Montieth take his clothes off and pout his lips? I believe his presence was simply there to support his female co-stars.
The blogger states that “to make it as an actor you better strip down.” I have to disagree with this. There are many actors out there who have not bared all who are still very successful. Does having a sex tape, or sex scene, or naked photo shoot help to jolt one’s career? Sure. But a sex scene can or a photo shoot can not keep an actors career alive forever. Lea Michelle may spread her legs for the whole world to see but that does not take away from her talent. In Spring Awakening, she played a teenager, she showed her bare breasts in a sex scene with her co-star Jonathan Groff. So what exactly is the difference between the two?
